As Kullanımı

As : preposition (edat) olarak kullanma

We use as with a noun to refer to the role or purpose of a person or thing

I worked as a waiter when I was a student.

Öğrenci iken garson olarak çalıştım.

As : Conjunction (bağlaç) olarak kullanma

The conjunction as has several different meanings. We use as when one event happens while another is in progress (‘during the time that’). In this case the verb after is often in the continuous form:

Neden Olarak:

I went to bed at 9 pm as I had a plane to catch at 6 am.

6 da olan uçağı yakalamak için yatağa 9 da gittim.

As : The same as (benzer) olarak kullanma

We use as with the same to talk about identical things:

Benzer Olarak:

Your jacket is the same colour as mine.

Senin ceketinin rengi benimkinin aynısı.

As : Simultaneous (eş zamanlı) olarak kullanma

We use as to introduce two events happening at the same time. After as with this meaning, we usually use a simple (rather than continuous) form of the verb:

Aynı zamanda:

As you get older, moving house gets harder.

Yaşlanınca eve gitmen zorlaşır.

* When gibi düşünülebilir.

As : as … as (kadar) olarak kullanma

We use as + adjective/adverb + as to make comparisons when the things we are comparing are equal in some way:

kadar, eşit anlamında :

The weather this summer is as bad as last year. It hasn’t stopped raining for weeks.

Bu yaz havası geçen yıl ki kadar kötü. Bir hafta boyunca yağmur durmadı.

As : as … as Possible (münkün olduğu kadar) olarak kullanma

We often use expressions of possibility or ability after as … as:

münkün olan en iyi şekilde :

Can you come as soon as possible?

Münkün olduğu kadar kısa zamanda gelebilir misin?

As : as much/many as (miktarı kadar) olarak kullanma

When we want to make comparisons referring to quantity, we use as much as with uncountable nouns and as many as with plural nouns:

miktarı kadar:

Greg makes as much money as Mick but not as much as Neil.

Greg Mick kadar para biriktirdi fakat Neil kadar değil.

As : as if / as though (miş gibi) olarak kullanma

As if and as though are conjunctions.

We use as if and as though to make comparisons. They have a similar meaning. We use as if and as though to talk about an imaginary situation or a situation that may not be true but that is likely or possible. As if is more common than although:

bağlaç olarak:

It looks as though you’ve not met before.

Daha önce hiç görmemiş gibi bakıyor.

As : as long as (-medikçe) olarak kullanma

We use as long as to refer to the intended duration of a plan or idea, most commonly referring to the future. We always use the present simple to refer to the future after as long as:

if gibi kullanma:

I’ll remember that film as long as I live.

Yaşadıkça bu filmi hatırlayacağım.

As : as well as (birlikte) olarak kullanma

As well is an adverb which means ‘also’, ‘too’ or ‘in addition’. We usually use as well at the end of a clause:

ek olarak:

When they go to Austria, they like walking as well as skiing.

Onlar Avusturya’ya gittiklerinde yürümenin yanında kayak yapmayı da  severler.
